My first NFL game
Played in my first game Saturday against Atlanta and finished with three tackles, and some good plays on special teams. It was a great experience but I definitely have plenty of work to do. I need to concentrate on increasing my production and decreasing my errors. But to run out of the tunnel, put on that game jersey and play against another NFL team... you can't beat it. It was everything I imagined it would be and more. I played the whole game on special teams and I played the whole fourth quarter at middle linebacker. I had one big hit on punt return, had a crack back block that got some ooos and aws from the crowd. In film study the next day coach went through the tape and when my hit came up there were some ooos in that room too. Coach said hell of a hit. It felt good to do something positive. Overall I graded out at 80%, but I'll keep striving to get into that 90 percentile. Coach showed me the things I did well and what I needed to work on. I took notes and will do everything I can not to make the same mistakes again. You're never going to get 100%. You're always going to shoot for it, but even Jerry Rice said he kept playing because he never had the perfect game. That kept him always striving to be better. The coaches said they were proud of the young guys. We had to stop a drive to win the game. Atlanta moved it inside the 10 but we came up with an interception with 20 seconds left to win it. It felt great to come through like that. We had the day off after the game so I got a chance to sleep, relax and reflect on everything. For me I woke up a little later, grabbed something to eat, got some treatment and went back to take a nap. You don't want to shut it down too much, it's not vacation you still have to go out there the next day. But it is nice to rest your body and your mind and get away from the facility and everyone for a day. There are some people who get hungry after games, but not me. When I get done with a game I just want to sleep. There is so much time and effort that goes into preparing for the game that when you get done and all that weight and bearing is off I'm ready to go to sleep. So that's what I did. I spent some time with my dad immediately after the game and then I went back and crashed. Now I can't wait for the next one.
