Baseball Hall of Famer Frank Thomas Has New Broadcasting Job with Apple TV

Baseball Hall of Famer Frank Thomas has a new broadcasting gig.

After being let go by Fox before the season after nearly a decade-long run, 'The Big Hurt' will join Apple TV's coverage of baseball.

According to Barrett Sports Media, Thomas won't be on every matchup, but he'll make his debut this Friday when the Mariners visit the Angels in Anaheim. Apple TV has games each Friday during the season.

He will conduct interviews with players, both before the game and on the field. For some games, he will be in the broadcast booth.

Thomas was let go by Fox this year after they hired Derek Jeter.

The 55-year-old Thomas spent 19 years in the big leagues playing with the Chicago White Sox, Oakland Athletics and Toronto Blue Jays.

He was a lifetime .301 hitter who hit 521 career home runs and amassed 2,468 hits. He was a first-round pick of the White Sox in the 1989 draft out of Auburn and made his debut in 1990. He was a five-time All-Star selection, a four-time Silver Slugger selection, a two-time MVP winner, a batting champion and a home run derby winner.

He helped the White Sox win the 2005 World Series, which is the last title for the organization.

He gets a good game to be a part of in his debut. While the Mariners are slumping, he does to get to see a great pitching matchup of Luis Castillo against Shohei Ohtani.

First pitch on Friday night is 9:38 p.m. ET.
